Opus: Echo of Starsong is a strong contender for game of the year in my opinion. While the gameplay and narrative are simple, the game's execution is ambitious, and it stays true to challenging emotional themes until the very end.

Hearts of Iron IV isn't a game in which you're handed a gun and told to fight a war. It assigns you to a conflict and challenges you to win it.

Let's Build a Zoo particularly excels in these moments of ridiculousness. It's a cute little game with just the proper amount of 'what the fuck?' to keep me entertained for hours.
